“Out of Place” is a photographic series that seeks to engage with some of mankind’s age old philosophical questions: Who are we? What are we doing here? What is this place? How did I get here? etc.... This body of work utilizes a tiny figurine placed within various natural settings in order to examine the idea of a stranger in a foreign land. This small “everyman” is a wanderer who is out of place, traveling about on a journey in search of understanding.

Each photograph measures 2’ x 6’, thereby drawing the viewer into intimate contact with this miniaturized/ maximalized world. The juxtaposition of scale also offers a fresh new perspective of the natural world, and highlights our relative in/significance in relation to the larger context of Life.
