Eggsorcism
Eggs, eggshells, charcoal hatch marks on the wall; 15´ W x 18´ L x 10´ H
Eggsorcism transforms the gallery space into a contemplative tableau of ritual and healing. Charcoal hatch marks cover the walls, while a central pile of eggshells anchors the room, accompanied by whole eggs arranged on shelves and above the mantle.
The installation draws inspiration from a Persian healing ritual performed to rid an individual of malevolent spirits. In the ritual, the eldest family member holds an egg between thumb and forefinger, applying gentle pressure while inscribing names of friends and relatives with charcoal. At a climactic moment, the egg breaks, symbolically releasing harmful energies and restoring balance. A brief description of the ritual accompanies the piece, providing viewers with context for this poetic meditation on transformation, protection, and communal care.
