Sic Transit Gloria Mundi
(So Passes Away the Glory of the World)
Honey, gold leaf, wood; 100´ W x 12´ H x 18´ D
In Sic Transit Gloria Mundi, the gallery becomes a site of slow, luscious transformation, where honey flows like molten gold across a hundred-foot wall. The title, rendered in glimmering gold leaf at the center, hovers like a celestial incantation above the slowly gathering pools at the base. Each drip, each glint of light on the viscous surface, invites the viewer to feel the passage of time and the impermanence of glory.
Twice a week, fresh honey is poured at the top, creating an unceasing cascade that thickens, gathers, and glistens, an intoxicating marriage of sweetness and ritual. The installation seduces the senses: the scent of honey hangs in the air, the sheen of gold captures the eye, and the slow descent of the liquid evokes both desire and reflection. Here, the ephemeral and the eternal collide—a sensuous meditation on decay, beauty, and the fleeting nature of worldly splendor.
