Refractions
Acrylic on board, various sizes
Refractions investigates the interplay of color, shape, rhythm, and harmony through a geometric lens. Each canvas is composed of simple shapes that interlock like pieces of a quilt or segments of a city map. Beneath the apparent spontaneity lies a subtle, complex grid—a scaffolding that unifies the composition while allowing for dynamic visual interactions.
Color relationships shift depending on the viewer’s perception: one may notice red before orange, or teal before coral, creating a unique experience with each encounter. In this way, the observer becomes an active participant, completing the work and generating a constantly evolving visual narrative. Refractions invites repeated engagement, offering a fresh perception and emotional resonance every time it is viewed.
