Talisman
Talisman explores the delicate intersection of word, line, and spirit. Created in oil and acrylic on board and paper in varying sizes, the series transforms lines of mystical poetry—by Sufi poets such as Attar—into visual rhythms, where each gesture becomes a calligraphic echo of the text:
“If you want to be one with everything,
and go round and round with the universe,
you must first step over your head to enter this realm,
and flow whole-heartedly along every curve and bend along the path.”
The works embrace a playful, childlike sensibility—gestures that are comforting in their simplicity, imperfect yet sincere. I am drawn to the poetic power of words, not merely for their literal meaning, but as symbols and icons of hidden realms. Through repetition, abstraction, and mark-making, Talisman seeks to map the contours of an inner landscape, where text, form, and spirit converge.
