Zikr
Digital print on rice paper, 19″W x 27″H
This body of work draws its name from the Arabic word for “remembrance.” They are a quiet meditation on memory and presence—a visual reflection of the act of recalling a face, a state of being, that has slipped from awareness.
Each work is composed of a single line of poetry by a Persian Sufi poet, repeated over and over in flowing calligraphic strokes. The repetition becomes a ritual, a gentle echo of devotion and reflection, inviting the viewer into a space of contemplation and mindful attention. Zikr is an intimate dialogue between language, form, and memory, where words and gestures weave together to evoke presence, longing, and the subtle beauty of remembrance.
