“Grand Illusion” ; Front pages of foreign and domestic newspapers, Paper sign, Monitor, VCR, Mickey Mouse cartoon on a loop, Yellow flashing lights, Velvet, Pedestal, Mirror, Porcelain statue of Mickey Mouse; 60’W x7’H x3’D, and 10’W x3’H x3’D

The site consisted of two display windows five feet apart from each other. Utilizing the style and materials characteristic of retail display, the piece appeared to be more “life” than art. This installation examined the notions of “reality” and “illusion” by juxtaposing the world of mass media (news papers) with that of cartoon fantasy (Mickey Mouse). Both of the windows essentially represented the concept of a store, who was selling the same merchandise, but under different names.
