“Refinement of Matter”; Sand, Glass, Mirror, Water, Wood; 20´W x 25´L x 2´H
This piece explored the refinement and transformation of matter in a formal and symbolic way. It consisted of four concentric square areas; the first was filled with sand, and then pieces of broken glass, broken mirror and finally water in the very center. Although the transformation of sand into glass and then into mirror is rather formal/ physical, water as the final state of this process of transformation gently moves beyond the physical/formal realm and into a more metaphysical one and introduces a metaphorical reading.
